2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible
Spring is finally here, and nothing says spring like a convertible. Instead of making us wait for next week's New York Auto Show, Chevy has gone ahead and released details about the upcoming convertible version of their 2015 Corvette Z06. This is the first time since 1963 that the Z06 has been offered with a drop top. “Until recently it was not possible to create a lightweight, open-roof structure strong enough to cope with the braking, cornering and acceleration of Corvette's top performance models,” Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter said. “The frame for the Z06 convertible leverages advancements in computer-aided engineering, metallurgy and manufacturing techniques -- many of which were not available just five years ago.” The 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible is being called the Stingray, for owners who want it all. Along with a power folding roof that can open at speeds of up to 30 mph, the car comes with racing suspension & brakes and of course, the Z06 engine. Both the coupe and the convertible models of the Z06 will be offered in three variations. The standard package comes with the front splitter, a unique carbon fibre hood, rear spoilers and spats around the front wheel openings. More

Retrieval Of Sinkhole Swallowed Corvettes Begins
By now most people have heard about the sinkhole that opened up at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY, on February 12. Eight of the museum's prized, collectible Corvettes were swallowed up by the Earth. Recovery has now begun this week. As of today, three of the eight vehicles have been recovered in front of an audience of cheering spectators and thousands of online viewers as the cars were lifted by crane and placed at ground level. Among the vehicles recovered were the 2009 ZR1 Blue Devil, which is on loan from General Motors, and the 1993 Ruby Red 40th anniversary edition. The Blue Devil, which had plunged nearly 30 feet but landed on it's wheels, seems to have survived with only minor damage including a ruptured oil line, a broken window and cracks on the lower part of it's door panels. Once it was lifted, workers were able to get the car running again, and drove it 20 feet to the museum's doorway. More

GM Planning Entry Level Corvette?
While GM isn't confirming anything yet, sources are claiming that an entry level Chevrolet Corvette is in the works. At the moment, the iconic sports car's average customer is a 50-something male. GM is hoping to broaden the car's appeal with a sub- $50,000 sticker price. The less expensive model would likely make an appearance in mid to late 2015, about two years after the long awaited release of the Stingray, the first new Corvette seen in nine years. This may be a sign that Chevy's Corvette brand is starting to think out of the box, and might capitalize from the newfound interest in the brand generated by the new Stingray. Expanding the line-up and range of appeal wouldn't be a bad thing at all. The Corvette is celebrating it's 60th anniversary this year, and the new seventh generation C7 Stingray is attracting some serious interest, even winning the highly coveted "Best In Show" award at the 2013 Detroit International Auto Show. It also pulled in awards for "Best Curves" and "Sexiest Car." More
